Acceptable Use Policy

Effective date: November 7, 2026

This policy applies to every show, episode, artwork, transcript, show note, guest form and message on CLT Studio. It is part of the Terms of Service. It is written to line up with the Apple Podcasts content guidelines, so a show that follows it should not be rejected by Apple for content reasons, though Apple, Spotify and other directories make their own decisions.

Prohibited content

You may not publish or distribute content through Studio that:

  1. Infringes rights. Uses music, audio, video, artwork or text you don't own or have a licence for, or violates someone's copyright, trademark or right of publicity. See the Copyright Policy.
  2. Is illegal where it is distributed, or encourages criminal or illegal activity.
  3. Encourages suicide or self-harm. Discussing these topics responsibly, for example with support resources, is allowed.
  4. Is hateful, harassing or threatening. Defamatory, discriminatory or mean-spirited content about religion, race, sexual orientation, gender, national or ethnic origin or other groups, especially content likely to humiliate, intimidate, harass or harm, and any specific threat of violence. Professional political satire and humour are generally fine.
  5. Is pornographic or sexually explicit, including content meant for sexual gratification, content promoting sexual violence or humiliation, and attempts to evade these rules by partial censoring. Any sexual content involving minors is forbidden and is reported to the authorities.
  6. Exposes private information, such as someone's home address, financial or medical details or private communications, without their consent, or includes recordings of people who did not agree to be recorded or published.
  7. Impersonates another person, show or brand, claims an affiliation you don't have, or copies another creator's artwork, title or description.
  8. Misleads. Titles, descriptions, artwork and other metadata must accurately describe the episode. No keyword stuffing, misleading search terms, or fake follows, listens, ratings or reviews.
  9. Uses AI deceptively. If an episode uses AI-generated audio or video, such as synthetic voices, AI hosts or AI replicas of real people, disclose it prominently in the episode and its description. Never use AI to fabricate news or present manipulated audio as real events.
  10. Is mostly advertising for outside products with no editorial value to listeners, or is spam, duplicate copies of the same show or episode, or placeholder episodes for a show that doesn't exist yet.
  11. Uses Apple, Spotify or other platform trademarks in a way that suggests the platform made or endorses your show.

Explicit content

Mark any episode with profanity, sexually suggestive themes or other material unsuitable for children as explicit. Write words out in full in titles and descriptions rather than self-censoring them with symbols, unless that styling is part of your show's established name.

Prohibited use of the service

  • Sending spam or unsolicited bulk email through guest forms, reminders or invitations.
  • Collecting guest information you don't need, or using it for anything other than producing your show.
  • Probing, overloading or bypassing the security of Studio, or accessing accounts you aren't a member of.
  • Using Studio to host files that are not podcast media, or to inflate download statistics.

Enforcement

Anyone can report an episode from the "Report this episode" link on its page. We also re-screen published episodes periodically and spot-check a random sample. If content breaks this policy we may take the episode out of every feed, ask you to fix it, or suspend the account, depending on how serious and repeated the problem is. We'll tell you what we removed and why, and you can reply to ask us to look again.
